8D and CAPA  Analysis 

Introduction

If we are working as a vendor for any company then its one of our responsibility that we should provide defect-free products to our customers. Also, its customer's prior requirement that we should provide him defect-free products. The customer is paying us for that product so he expecting zero-defect product. Also, there must be some other operation over that part or product we are supplying so if we are providing defective part then it results in downtime at the customer end as he is unable to use it. He faced big-time loss.

                     After finding defective part customer raised mail or we can say customer complaint against vendor providing that defective part. Consider we are a vendor providing that defective part then we have to give complete Analysis report to the customer showing how it gets generated and passed to the customer. We have to give an action plan also with it. Two documents we submit just after customer complaints are as below.

• CAPA         - Corrective Action Preventive Action 
• 8D Report - 8 Discipline Analysis report       

1.  CAPA - 

                   Corrective action and preventive action is an action plan which we submit to the customer against customer complaint which is in a specific format. Formate contains all header feeds like 5W-2H  (why, when, which, what, who, How,  How much). How was the process before and what change you have made to avoid that defect generation? What action you have taken and how it's taken. Observation after doing corrections.

 2.   8D - 

                 8D Discipline is a systematic way of doing analysis for any customer complaint or problem-solving. 8 The disciplines of 8 D analysis is are as below.

• Team forming for analysis.

• Describing problems to the team.

• Take temporary action.

•  Finding root cause.

•  Taking action we finalize.  

•  Validating corrective action.                                     

•  Take preventive action for future prevention.

•  Congratulate all team members for their efforts.

Formate containing all of the above information in a systmatic way is called an 8D analysis report. An 8D analysis report is a perfect way of giving action.
